V.F.W. PROGRAMS

 

Wenatchee Valley V.F.W. Post 3617

supports and administers many varied community programs.

These include a number of youth programs:

For students in grades nine through twelve,

the V.F.W. offers the "Voice of Democracy" audio essay contest,

with local scholarships awarded,

and the opportunity for winners to advance to the District,

State and National levels and compete for up to $30,000.00 in college scholarships.

For youth in grades six through eight, the V.F.W. offers the "Patriots Pen" essay competition,

also with local scholarships and the opportunity to compete for

District, State and National Scholarship Awards.

For students in third through fifth grades, the Department of Washington State

V.F.W. Organization offers its "Youth Essay" program,

with scholarship winners at the Post, District and State levels.

The V.F.W. also offer a program for Boy/Girl Scout of the Year

with an opportunity to advance and compete at the National level.

The V.F.W. offers awards to nominated Elementary, Middle School,

and High School Teachers who exemplify an outstanding comittment

to teach Americanism and Patriotism to students.

Winners at the Post level compete for National awards.

V.F.W. Post 3617 sponsors annual community service awards to Law Enforcement personnel,

Emergency Medical Technicians and Fire Fighters.

V.F.W. Post 3617 is a strong supporter of our local Civil Air Patrol Chapter,

and their ongoing activities and programs.

The Post provides Honor Guard and Color Guards

for a number of community events and occasions,

as well as Veteran Funerals.
